1. Icon Status in System Tray
1.1 White icon indicates the eye strain is minimal. As the time for a rest break gets near, the color of the icon turns from white to red. ![]()
1.2 Red icon indicates the eye strain is maximal. The time to take a rest break is coming up soon.
1.3 Green icon indicates it's time to take a rest break. As the time to start work gets near, the color of the icon turns from green to white. ![]()
1.4 Gray icon indicates the user is not working in the computer. The icon turns grey if the “Auto-away status after inactivity” option is ON, and the user is not active longer than the time specified in this option.
1.5 Disabled icon indicates the counter stopped. The icon appears if the user disables the counter via the “Enabled” item in the menu (see: 2.5 Ånabled).
2. Popup Menu
2.1 Take a break! : Select this option to enter the rest mode instantly. You can also start this mode with a double click on the EyeDefender icon in the system tray. 2.2 Settings: Select this option to open the “Settings” dialog. 2.3 Interval between breaks: This option allows you to select a new time interval between breaks quickly or set your own interval if you select the “Custom...” option in the menu. Available values: 1 – 999 minutes. 2.4 Break duration: Select this option to set a new duration period for a break quickly from the menu or set your own period if you select the “Custom...” option. Available values: 1 – 999 minutes. 2.5 Enabled: The counter stops if this option is unchecked. 2.6 Reset: Select this option to reset the counter. 2.7 Online Help: Selecting this option opens this web page. 2.8 About: Selecting this option opens the “About EyeDefender” dialog. 2.9 Exit: This option closes the program. 3. Settings Dialog
3.1 Interval between breaks: Choose this option to set up how much time you would like to work between breaks (see also: 2.3). 3.2 Break duration: Select this option to set up how much time you would like to rest (see also: 2.4). 3.3 Auto-away status after inactivity: EyeDefender determines if the user is clicking the mouse and pressing the keys or not when this option is ON. If the time of inactivity goes beyond the specified time, the counter stops until the user comes back to the computer. The icon in the tray turns grey while the user is away. (see: 1.4 Gray Icon). Available values: 1 – 999 minutes. 3.4 Show pictures in a folder: The program shows all images from a predefined folder in the rest mode when this option is ON. Supported image formats include BMP, GIF, JPEG and PNG. Press [Esc], [Enter] or double click to close the slideshow. 3.5 Start the visual training: The program runs the visual training in the rest mode when this option is ON. The training offers several exercises to help you relax the eyes. Press [Space] to go to the next exercise. Press [Esc], [Enter] or double click to close the training. 3.6 Activate a default screen saver: The program runs a default screensaver in the rest mode when this option is ON. To select a screensaver, choose Control Panel > Display > Screen Saver. 3.7 Show a popup balloon in system tray: The program shows a timed popup reminder in the tray, telling you to take a break when this option is ON. Note: Windows ME and higher is required for this option.
3.8 Launch on Windows startup: The program starts on Windows launch automatically when this option is ON. 3.9 Enable password protection: This option allows to prevent the settings from being changed by unauthorized users.
